About Me

My name is Abigail and I'm a 29-year-old library administrator, currently working part-time at the University of the West of England, as well as a part-time student, studying for my PG Diploma in Library & Information Services Management with the University of Sheffield. Once I have completed my qualification, I aspire to become a full-time librarian, preferably in an academic library environment, but am also interested in working in public, school and health libraries.

I also hold a Bachelor's degree in English and Creative Writing from Falmouth University (completed in 2019) and a Master of Arts in Scriptwriting from Bath Spa University (completed in 2020 in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic). These qualifications are to do with my obvious love for writing and reading, and while my career has taken off in the direction of librarianship, I continue to write and read in my spare time. As well as this blog, I write plenty of fiction, and am currently working on a full-length "romantasy" novel I hope to publish one day.

I will read almost any fiction book of any genre, but have particular fondness for the romance, fantasy, thriller, crime, urban fantasy and dark fantasy genres. My favourite books of the last few years have been Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng, Under the Whispering Door by T.J.Klune, Book of Night by Holly Black and Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins.

I was born in Rochdale in Lancashire, but moved to Devon with my mum when I was very young and spent most of my childhood and teenage years in the little seaside town of Seaton, where my family and their dog and cat still reside.

I moved away from home to study my first degree in Falmouth in 2016, then moved to Bath for my Master's in 2019, and then to the city of Bristol in 2020, where I stayed for almost four years. I got my first library job in 2021 while living in Bristol, working as a full-time Enquiries Assistant at UWE for just over two years, before progressing to my current job as a Library Administrator in 2023. I now live in the seaside town of Weston-Super-Mare with a friend of mine, and commute to Bristol two days a week for my Library Administrator role (working from home on Thursdays), and spend the rest of the week studying for my Diploma.

UPDATE 10/05/26: I finally moved back to Bristol and am now in a flat in Redland with a good friend of mine, excited to start a new job next week!
